Bring Your Whole Self To Work: How Vulnerability Unlocks Creativity, Connection, and Performance is the book that sought-after motivational speaker and business consultant Mike Robbins wrote in 2018 to talk about how work should feel. Asking about the human experience of the workplace couldn’t be more relevant. Robbins based his research on his experiences of working with clients such as Google, Microsoft, eBay to Citibank, and the U.S. Department of Labor, to name but a few.
Books like this remind us that culture is made up of things that are hard to see, yet when we stop and take the time to watch and listen with sensitivity then any organisation is hugely strengthened.
The rousing question is about what it is to show up fully and authentically to our employment.
We have partnered with Storytelling Academy based in London because every business has a compelling story to tell that is impactful and memorable.
The lines between the personal and the professional are ever more blurred – in a healthy organisation this can be a wonderful achievement that brings humour, collaboration and a shared sense of pride in achieving excellent results.
It requires skill, and as Robbins says, “it takes commitment, intention and courage for leaders and organisations to create environments that are conducive to this type of authenticity and humanity.”

From my very first job in the sales section of an Apple Computer Centre in Syria, I fell in love with training after being sent on a sales course. Immediately I saw how this was going to open horizons for me. I became fascinated with culture change, developing leaders, and working with aspiring managers.
The power of training gave me the ability to shape my career and I had the opportunity to work in many different countries, finally moving to London and setting up Isle of Innovation so that I could share the what I’d discovered.
